
Phacoemulsification (commonly called phaco surgery) is a modern, minimally invasive procedure used to remove the cloudy lens caused by cataracts. Using ultrasound energy, the surgeon emulsifies the cataract and then replaces it with a clear intraocular lens (IOL). Micro Incision Cataract Surgery (MICS) uses very small incisions, which heal quickly and require minimal stitches. This surgery is the standard of care worldwide because it is safe, effective, and offers rapid visual recovery. A thorough pre-operative evaluation including IOL power calculation (biometry) is performed

Vision begins to improve within 24–48 hours. Patients are advised to use prescribed antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops for 4–6 weeks.
